Jesse Palmer Walker Jr Scholarship

The Jesse Palmer Walker Jr. Scholarship was established by Mrs. Walker as a memorial to him and to keep his legacy alive. Jesse Palmer Walker was born in Nashville TN and educated in the Nashville Public School System. He graduated from then Pearl High School and was a member of the famous Pearl High School Band. He graduated from Tennessee State University with a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Music. He was a member of the TSU Aristocrat of Bands for four years. Jesse Palmer Walker Jr was a band and music teacher in Franklin TN and later became a band director in Metro-Nashville until his death in 1978. His wife created the scholarship in honor of her husband. She stated that the band is a pride and joy to their family. Mr. Walker’s mother kept many TSU band students in her home. Mrs. Walker stated that her husband love the band unconditionally and he was an outstanding band member under the directorships of Mr. Chavis and Mr. Frank Greer.
