The Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship

Lettie Pate Whitehead Evans was a generous philanthropist and accomplished businesswoman. After the death of her husband Joseph B. Whitehead, she assumed management of his business affairs, establishing the Whitehead Holding Company and the Whitehead Realty Company and leading the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Atlanta. She also became one of the first female directors of any major U.S. corporation when she was appointed to the board of The Coca-Cola Company in 1934, a position she held for nearly 20 years.

The Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship is open to full time undergraduate female students who are residents of the following Southeastern States (Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana). Students must have met all prerequisite requirements and received notification of acceptance in one of the following majors: Cardio-Respiratory Care Sciences, Dental Hygiene, Health Care Administration and Planning; Health Information Management, Health Sciences or Nursing. The scholarship will be awarded based on financial need to students with a 2.5 minimum GPA and to those who can provide documentation of membership in a Christian church.
