Lavon Binkley Blankenship

Established by Lavin Blankenship, Class of 1987, this scholarship honors the legacy of his mother, Mary Perry, Class of 1979.

Mary Perry was a lifelong learner who believed deeply in the power of education to transform lives. Determined to build a better future for herself and her family, she earned her GED in her 40s and went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). While working full-time as an LPN, Mary continued her education at Tennessee State University, ultimately earning her bachelor’s degree and becoming a registered nurse.

This scholarship reflects Mary’s unwavering commitment to education and her desire to support the next generation of nursing students in achieving their dreams.
