Coach Larry Eulas Cole Memorial Scholarship

This Tennessee State University memorial scholarship honors the life, legacy, and values of Coach Larry Eulas Cole. He enrolled at Tennessee State University in 1963 after graduating from Bransford High School in Springfield, Tennessee. As a dedicated member of the TSU baseball team from 1964 to 1967, Larry played third base, led the team in hitting in 1966, and served as team captain in 1967. He graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Recreation.

Coach Cole later returned to TSU as Assistant Baseball Coach from 1977 to 1983, where he made a lasting impact on student-athletes both on and off the field. During his tenure, 18 of his recruits were drafted and signed to Major League Baseball contracts. In recognition of his character and influence, former players honored him with a plaque naming him an “All-Around Hall of Fame Person.” In 1988, he was inducted into the Tennessee State University Hall of Fame as a distinguished former baseball player.

A dedicated husband and father, Coach Cole carried the same commitment, integrity, and care into his family life as he did into his coaching and mentorship. Known for his ability to recognize and nurture the unique talents and needs of each individual, he was deeply committed to mentorship at every level, from little league to collegiate athletics and beyond. He generously shared his love of the game, remained actively engaged in his community, and served faithfully in his church, including as Chairman of the Deacon Board, never seeking recognition in return.
